The 1951 printing of this historical study written by Sir Winston Churchill, first published in 1899, and here in the publisher's original price clipped dust wrapper.
The second book ever to be published by Churchill, it provides a history of the conquest of the Sudan between 1896 and 1899 by the Anglo-Egyptian forces led by Lord Kitchener.
This edition is illustrated with twenty-two maps and plans, the majority of which are folding.
With the stamp of 'Cambridgeshire Libraries' to the front free endpaper, a library bookplate to the front pastedown, and further library stamp to front free endpaper. No further library markings present.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with shelf wear to back strip head and tail. Edge wear to dust wrapper back strip head and tail, with tape reinforcement to reverse. Small closed tear to head of front wrap. Tape residue to front pastedown, with library bookplate to front pastedown, and stamp to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Library stamp to title page. Pages clean and bright.
