Sydney James Van Pelt was an Australian medical practitioner and a pioneer of modern medical hypnosis and hypnotherapy. He was commissioned by the British Minister of Health, the Home Office and the National Association of Mental Health to assist in the adoption of the U.K. Hypnotism Act 1952.

In this work, Van Pelt discusses the history of hypnotism, stages of hypnosis, the induction of hypnosis, and the use of hypnosis in treating psycho-neuroses.

Illustrated with twenty-one photographic images, and five diagrams. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light handling marks to boards. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. With instances of ink underlining throughout.
