Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

This work is a late fifteenth century Gaelic manuscript, crated for Finghean Mac Carthaigh, the Lord of Cabery, at Kilbrittain, Co. Cork. Only one-hundred and ninety-eight leaves of the work survive today, all of which are provided in facsimile in this work. The work contains a miscellany of religious and secular texts, which are primarily written in Irish. The religious material in this work mostly relates to the saints of Ireland, including Patrick, Colm Cille, Brigid, and Kieran. Illustrated with three-hundred and ninety leaves of plates. Descriptive introduction and indexes by R. A. S. Macalister, an Irish archaeologist. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Salve. Lowenac. Camborne.'

Condition

In a half cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Minor marks and rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just a few spots to the endpapers. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page.
