First edition of The Adventures of Chunky by Leila Berg in the original publisher's binding and clipped dust wrapper.
Scarce edition. With black and white illustrations throughout the text by George Downs.
Leila Berg was an English author of children's fiction. This is the first book to feature Chunky. It was followed with later work Trust Chunky (1954).
Berg was awarded the Eleanor Farjeon Award in 1974.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. The dust wrapper has some loss and is worn to the extremities. To the binding, there is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some marking to the spine and some light marking to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper. The front hinge is strained. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean.
