What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

'Helena' is the only historical novel written by Evelyn Waugh, and unlike his other works of fiction, is far less satirical. The story follows Helena on her quest to find relics of the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Waugh himself described this novel as his greatest work. Dated using Copac. Evelyn Waugh was a English writer known for his novels, biographies and travel books, as well as a journalist and book reviewer. Serving in the British forces throughout the Second World War, Waugh is a writer who was exposed to a wide range of people and social classes, and this is very much reflected in his work, drawing on his own personal experience. He is perhaps best known for his work 'Brideshead Revisited', and the satire 'Decline and Fall'.
