The first translated edition of this charming volume by Portuguese author Miguel Torga [Adolfo Correia da Rocha], who is considered one of the greatest Portuguese writers of the twentieth century.

Translated by Denis Brass, who also wrote the introduction to this volume.

A lovely collection of fourteen stories having for protagonists various animals. With titles such as 'Nero the Pointer,' 'Mago the Cat,' 'Magdalen,' 'Morgado the Mule,' 'Bambo the Toad,' and others. 

With various striking illustrations by Gregorio Prieto. 

Complete with unclipped dust wrapper.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper unclipped and very smart with only minor shelf wear, a couple of minor closed tears to wraps, wraps lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
