A very scarce 1949 edition of this monthly periodical in the publisher's original paper wraps. A May 1949 publication of the World Review, a monthly periodical devoted to literature, the arts and other cultural interests. Included in this edition is: an article by George Orwell expanding on Newspeak, a language he created for his hugely influential novel 1984; the poem 'Human Vanity' by Ezra Pound and a subsequent article concerning Pound by Robert Payne; an article on the BBC by Geoffrey Grigson; and an article on the defence of Western Europe by military historian and theorist B. H. Liddell Hart. With advertisements throughout.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally smart, with some faint marks to the wraps caused by rusting staples. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
