The sixth edition of The River War, second published book 1899 by Sir Winston Churchill. This volume is an account of the history of the conquest of Sudan led by Lord Kitchener between 1896 and 1899. The mechanisms of war are vividly represented by Churchill's writing style, enhanced by personal insights and comments. Churchill himself participated to the Battle of Omdurman while in Sudan.
Originally published in two volumes, reissued in one volume in 1902.
Illustrated with twenty-two maps and plans throughout.

In the publisher's original brown cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally excellent with minor shelfwear only. Loosely inserted, a printed note from the publisher. Dustwrapper is excellent with minor shelfwear only and minor handling mark to rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with twenty-two maps and plans throughout.
