What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

This novel draws upon the author's experiences during the Second World War, and was an instant best-seller., selling two hundred thousand copies in the first three months. Interestingly, the work was so full of profanities that the publisher refused to publish it without using an alternative, 'fug'.

Written by Norman Mailer, an American novelist and Pulitzer Prize winner. This was his debut novel.

An early edition; this work was first published in the U.S.A. the same year, with this edition a first impression of the first U.K. edition.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a little worn, with bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, binding is strained and exposed at both hinges. Pages are age-toned to the edges.
