First thus, first U.S edition. This novella by Evelyn Waugh, is often known by its other name, 'A Sojourn in Neutralia'. Set shortly after the Second World War, the novel follows the story of Scott-King, a teacher of classical languages, as he travels through Europe. Discussing themes of utopia, dystopia, totalitarianism, and idea of a modern Europe, the novel is an interesting exploration of life post Second World War. Evelyn Waugh was a English writer known for his novels, biographies and travel books, as well as a journalist and book reviewer. Serving in the British forces throughout the Second World War, Waugh is a writer who was exposed to a wide range of people and social classes, and this is very much reflected in his work, drawing on his own personal experience. He is perhaps best known for his work 'Brideshead Revisited', and the satire 'Decline and Fall'.

In full cloth binding, and held in a unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Slight fading to the head and tail of front and rear boards. Slight rubbing to the front endpaper, to the head. Spotting to the topedge. Dustwrapper is smart. Slight chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Slight sunning also to the spine.Minor rubbing to the joints, and the extremities. Small mark to the rear of the wrap, to the tail. Agetoning to the head of the front and rear flyleaf. A small amount of offsetting internally to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
