The scarce first editions of these works, Volume I published in 1949, Volume II in 1957. In unusually lovely condition.
In the original dustwrappers, Volume I is unclipped, Volume II is price-clipped.
Two volumes focusing on the development of the railway in Africa, Volume I looking at Kenya and Uganda, Volume II looking at Tanganyika.
Volume I illustrated with two folding maps, and fourteen plates.
Volume II illustrated with one folding map, and twenty-six plates.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original dustwrappers, Volume I is unclipped, Volume II is price-clipped. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the boards. Dustwrappers with light edgewear, resulting in small closed tears and chips, heavier to Volume I. Repaired closed tear to the reverse of the dustwrapper for Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
