Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

First uniform edition published in 1948, six years after the first limited and signed edition. A collection of short stories by Evelyn Waugh that came together after Waugh's work on a novel was interrupted as he was commissioned to join the Royal Marines. The novel was left in fragments which were published in this volume, hence the title Work Suspended. With 'Mr. loveday's Little outing,' 'Cruise,' 'Period Piece,' and others. 

Complete with unclipped dust wrapper. An exceptional copy of this work.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper unclipped and excellent with minor shelf wear, age toning to spine, odd minor chipping to extremities of spine. Previous ownership inscription to front fly-leaf dated 1949. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
