Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, Very Scarce

A charming memoir written by Stephen Pilkington, an expert hunter and instructor at a military school in the Western Highlands. Filled with anecdotes about his early hunting days and time spent in Scotland. 

Containing a foreword by Simon Fraser, or Lord Lovat, from Beaufort Castle in Scotland. 

Containing eight plates with illustrations from photographs. Collated, complete. 

Also including an inscription from the author to 'Leo', dated Feb. 19th, 1952, on one of the front free-endpapers. 

The original front wrap from the dust wrapper has also been pasted to the rear pastedown. 

This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with just a slight bit of bumping to the extremities. Author's inscription to one of the front free-endpapers. Front wrap from original dust wrapper has been pasted to the rear pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots to the fore-edge, not affecting the pages, which are bright and clean.
