What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Very Scarce

Very scarce. Privately printed, this work was written to pass down the stories linked to the Joy family. In particular the work explores the families oil business. It was David Joy who discovered that oil could be produced from Rapeseed and Linseed. This discovery led to the creation of the family business. The business saw incredible success when their oil products were used as lubricant for trains. The business would continue to expand, and with their products later used in cars, as well as notable in the first aeroplane flight in England by an Englishman. A unusual piece of family history, which documents an important British business, discovery and product. Ideal for those with an interest in train and automobiles, as well as the history of British Industry.

Condition

Pamphlet, bound in a paper wrap, amateurishly repaired. Externally, generally smart. Original binding failed, not amateurishly reaped with a piece of string. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. Rubbing to the front and rear boards, with the odd mark and some light age toning. Internally, generally firmly bound with the amateur repairs holding. Pages are bright and clean. Ink inscription to page 17. Overall condition of the work is impacted by the binding.
