The first edition, first impression of Winston S. Churchill's complete account of the Second World War in six volumes, each complete with its elusive, unclipped dust wrapper (only clipped to vol. III.)

These volumes retrace the history of the war from its beginnings in 1919 to 1944. Written from Churchill's personal point of view, from own notes and privileged access to official documents while still working as a politician, hence some facts had to remain secret. Considered a personal memoir by a leading participant in the direction of the war rather than a comprehensive history by a detached historian. 

With maps and plans, and facsimiles of documents in text throughout, a number folding, some in colour.
