Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition, first impression of the first three volumes of six of Winston S. Churchill's account of the Second World War. These volumes retrace the history of the war from its beginnings in 1919 to Soviet Russia and USA joining the conflict in 1941. Written from Churchill's personal point of view, from own notes and privileged access to official documents while still working as a politician, hence some facts had to remain secret. Considered a personal memoir by a leading participant in the direction of the war rather than a comprehensive history by a detached historian.

Vol. II in its unclipped dust wrapper, lacking to the other two volumes. Maps and plans in text throughout, six are folding. Collated, complete.

Comprising the first three volumes in the series; The Gathering Storm; Their Finest Hour; The Grand Alliance.
