Replete with a frontispiece in addition to 280 monochrome illustrations, 11 medieval building plans, and a folding map at the rear. Collated complete. A thorough survey of art and religious architecture in medieval France undertaken by the prolific British art historian Dame Joan Evans. This copy also contains clippings from Evans' obituary, published in The Times newspaper on 15th July 1977.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, sound with damp staining and the odd mark, heavier to the rear board. Fading, heavier to the spine. Bumping to the extremities, heavier to head and tail of the spine. Internally, pages are firmly bound, bright and clean. The odd spot, slightly heavier to the first and last few pages, the fore edge and the map. Small closed tear to plate 160.
