Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

Presenting The Wayward Bus, a novel by Nobel Prize-winning American author John Steinbeck. His other popular novels include The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men

This novel tells the story of married couple Juan and Alice, who work and live in California's Salinas Valley, a popular setting of Steinbeck novels. Both characters, as well as the other characters they encounter in the novel, are deeply flawed, and Steinbeck spends the majority of the book exploring these flaws as well as the transitory nature of humanity.

This novel was adapted into a black-and-white film in 1957 starring Jayne Mansfield, Joan Collins, Dan Dailey, and Rick Jason.

This copy is the first edition and is presented in original cloth binding.

This copy also came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.
