In the publisher's original cloth binding.
Profusely illustrated throughout, with a sketch of each knot described to the margins.
This book, originally published in the US in 1944, contains almost four thousand variants of knots alongside their practical applications.
Written by Clifford Warren Ashley who was a sailor and knot expert. This work is perhaps his most famous.
Ashley was also the first author to publish several of the knots, including what are now called 'Ashley's stopper knot' and 'Ashley's bend.'
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, with sunning to the spine and minor shelf wear. Marks to the boards. Ex libris of one T & M James to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
