Written by Field Marshal the Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, Bernard Montgomery, a decorated war hero who personally commanded the British Eighth Army during the Allied Invasion of Sicily and Italy, as well as during the Battle of Normandy. He then continued with the 21st Army Group during the North West Europe campaign, and personally accepted German surrender in north-western Europe at Luneburg Heath at the end of the Second World War.
