First UK edition. Originally published in the US in 1946. With the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated throughout. Originally appearing as a short story in the April 1946 issue of Fortune magazine, this comedy novel describes the difficulties of buying a home in America. Written by Eric Hodgins, an American author. Illustrated by William Steig, an American cartoonist, illustrator, and writer of children's books. He is best known for his work "Shrek!" which inspired the film series by the same name.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. A small mark to the rear board. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities resulting in light loss to the head of the spine. Sunning to the spine and the odd spot to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers.
