Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

An early edition of Raymond Chandler's third novel featuring Los Angeles private detective Philip Marlowe. In the publisher's original dust wrapper, price clipped, featuring the artwork of the first edition.

The July 1946 second impression of the World Publishing Company's 'Tower Mystery Books' edition of this novel, with the first impression released in August 1945. The novel was first published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1942.

In this popular novel,  Marlowe is hired by wealthy widow Elizabeth Bright Murdock to recover a missing Brasher Doubloon, a rare and valuable coin. 

The novel saw two film adaptations in the 1940s, 'Time to Kill' in 1943, and 'The Brasher Doubloon' in 1947.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with bumping to back strip head and tail. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
