What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this work. Limited edition, with the limitation slip loosely inserted 'This Edition Pinted on English hand-made paper, is limited to 500 copies for sale'. From the library of Art Historian, and noted collector Pat Milne-Henderson. Henderson wrote many biographies of noted artists. She was married to Michael Jaffe, the Art Historian and curator. With Milne-Henderson's bookplate to the front pastedown. Copiously illustrated throughout by the renowned English writer, artist, poet, and illustrator Mervyn Peake. Lacking the original dustwrapper, as usual. This interpretation, and translation of the tale from Valmiki's epic, the Ramayana, was written so that the story can be told to a wider audience. To the preface, Collins writes 'This ancient evergreen tale, or part of it, forms the central section of this book'. A fine example of this work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent with just some minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
