The first edition of this work. The history of Ethiopia and its people under the Empire of Hailé Selassié I, who reigned from 1930 to 1974 (although from 1936 to 1941 he was in exile after Italy's invasion in the country.) This volume comprising an account of the country and its people, the life, and the culture through the years under Hailé Selassié, from his years as regent to his reforms after the italian invasion. A historical account, discussing the church, the slavery, the Italian invasion during the Second World War, and the many reforms. 

Thoroughly illustrated with sixteen monochrome plates and one map.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally excellent with only minor bumping ot head and tail of spine. Internally, firmy bound. Minor handling mark to title page and the odd spot to fore edge, not affecting pages which are bright and clean. Complete with sixteen monochrome illustrations and a map.
