In French. One of fifty hand numbered copies, of which this is number 11. Author's inscription reads: 'With hope that our old friendship and our common taste for hunting and fishing will find in that book a new reason to be. With also my gratitude for my stay'. With a colour portrait frontispiece and numerous black and white photographic plates throughout. Includes a map depicting the route of the author's expeditions in Africa from the year 1928 to 1939. Mounted photo of the author tipped-in to front free-endpaper. Caption beneath states: Maxime Lefebvre-Despeaux and Francois d'Ivernois (cousin of Cherry Metcalfe) with Michael Moir in background'. Watermarks of BFK RIVES to several pages.

Condition

In original paper wraps with remnants of protective cover. Externally worn, with loss to the paper wraps. Internally, generally firmly bound, strained in places. Bright and clean with a few odd spots.
