Later edition, originally published 1887. The sequel to King Solomon's Mines, 1887, following Quarterman's desires to get back into the wilderness after the death of his only son. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre.
Condition
In the original full red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light chipping to the extremities resulting in minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. The odd small closed tear. Light sunning to the spine with the odd mark to the panels. Sympathetic repairs made with tape to the internal side of the wrap to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
