What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

This autobiographical work details the author's experiences between 1916 and 1920, overseeing the end of the First World War and Britain's victory. Sassoon wrote a number of autobiographical works, with the 'Sherston Trilogy' being a fictionalised autobiographical trilogy featuring characters living out true events that occurred to the author. This work is the final in his true autobiographical series, comprising 'The Old Century' and 'The Weald of Young' along with this work.

Siegfried Sassoon CBE (1886-1967) was an English poet, particularly renowned for those written during the First World War, which brought him to public attention. He was awarded the Queen's Medal for Poetry in 1957; he had also received a Military Cross for rescuing a wounded soldier during the First World War.

Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author, as well as a vignette illustrated title page.

Contains a newspaper clipping regarding the work and Sassoon.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding, with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with slight bumping to extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper has a large chip to the base of the spine, and is a little sunned to the spine and boards are discoloured, but is in very good condition. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
