Description

Original Binding

Reprinted from the weekly peer-reviewed general medical journal, 'The Lancet' that is among the world's oldest, most prestigious, and best known general medical journals. 'The Harveian Oration' is a yearly lecture held at the Royal College of Physicians of London first instituted in 1656 by William Harvey, the discoverer of the systemic circulation. Many of the lectures were published in book form, such as this text. Sir John Parkinson was an English cardiologist best known for describing 'Wolff-Parkinson-White' syndrome. Throughout the whole of his professional life, Parkinson worked untiringly to establish cardiology as an acknowledged specialty within medicine. Indeed, the excellence and constancy of his work in and for cardiology gained for Parkinson recognition and distinctions from all over the world, including the opportunity to be the Harveian Orator in the year 1945.
