Signed by the author and illustrator to the recto to the front endpaper, inscribed to Allen Freer. Graham Sutherland's inscription is dated 18th August 1977, David Gascoyne's is dated 3rd October 1978.

A selection of the poems written by David Gascoyne between 1937 and 1942, in the midst of World War Two.

Illustrated with an illustrated title page, and five plates, two plates with light touches of colour.

Gascoyne was a Surrealist poet.

Illustrated by Graham Sutherland.

Condition

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Spine is a little discoloured. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper with minor edgewear, and a little rubbing to the spine. A few light spots to the reverse of the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
