A charming book exploring Jean-Baptiste Charcot's exciting polar adventures, written by Marc Dubu with a preface by Louis de Giller of the French Academy.
Exploring the voyages in the North and South, as well as a biographical sketch of Charcot.
Illustrated with eight full plates and various in text illustrations by Le Bret, who also designed the colourful boards.
With a slipcase added in 2003 by David Squirell.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding and illustrated boards. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. the pages are clean throughout with some tone ageing, as usual due to the type of paper used. With eight full plates and various in text illustrations by Le Bret.
