A beautiful look into the art of Hu Zhengyan, a Chinese artist known for his traditional painting during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
This volume looks in particular at Hu's famous 'Ten Bamboo Studio Manual of Painting and Calligraphy', an important manual of painting that remained in print for around 200 years after it was first published between 1627 and 1644.
Illustrated with sixteen striking colour plates.

Condition
In the original half calf binding with paper to the boards. Externally, rubbed, with some loss of leather to the front board to the extremity. Some of the leather to the spine is lifting. Fading to the spine and joints. Light marks to the boards, including a faint tide mark to the head of the front board. Minor bumping to the extremities. Small chip to the title label to the front board. Internally, binding is strained in places with some pages detached or detaching. Pages are bright with the occasional spot.
