A very scarce copy of this World War Two manual for the Type A Gyro Compass, produced by S. G. Brown LTD.
Illustrated with a folding frontispiece, two double-sided folding plates, and illustrations throughout.
The gyroscopic compass was Brown's best known product, becoming much in use during World War I. With the outset of World War II Brown increased their company's productive capacity, making many gyroscopic compasses that were integral to the war effort.
Stamp of 'Seamark, Junior Officers (Merchant Navy) Old' to a few leaves.
Undated, dated 1942 from dates in the text.
Six blank pages for notes to the rear.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, generally smart, with light marks and rubbing to the wraps. A little edge wear to the extremities. Stamp to the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Stamp to the reverse of the frontispiece, and fore word.
