A beautiful work, rebound in half calf, and illustrated throughout. With numerous full plate and vignette illustrations and photographs, both in colour and black and white. Most striking are the four brightly coloured tipped in illustrated plates.

An illustrated re-issue of this account of the history of aviation. This work details all manner of aircraft, including blimps and hot air balloons, piloted by aviators throughout history. 

This is the work of aeronautical pioneer Charles Dollfus, who held several world records in ballooning, including the first stratospheric flight in France.

Condition

Rebound in half calf with paper covered boards. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Very light spotting to frontispiece and the occasional plate, pages otherwise clean and bright.
