What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
This work closely examines important figures in the history of ballet, such as Louis Milon, Charles Didelot, Jean Coralli, Marius Petipa, Kurt Jooss, Anna Pavlova and Jean Borlin, to name a few.
Written by Cyril W. Beaumont, a British dance historian and critic. A prolific writer, Beaumont also had his own publishing house, and wrote over forty books on ballet. He is widely considered one of the most significant historians of dance of the twentieth century. He also edited Dance Journal for fifteen years and wrote ballet criticisms for The Sunday Times.
Two volumes, being a revised edition of 'Complete Book of Ballets' and the first edition of the supplement volume.
Each is richly illustrated throughout.
Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth bindings. Externally generally smart, with some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spines of each volume. 'Complete Book of Ballets' is a little worn to the gilt lettering of the spine. Internally, binding is generally firmly bound, with a strain to the front hinge of volume I after the list of the author's works exposing the binding, which otherwise remains firm. Pages are bright and clean.
