First edition. Scarce work. Illustrated with a portrait plate, eighty-one in-text figures, and eight maps. Collated complete. A detailed guide for amateur geologists on the West Highlands and Hebrides, in Scotland, with reference to Clyde, Bute, Arran, Oban, Islay, Colonsay, and more. Written by Alfred Harker, an English geologist who specialised in petrology and interpretive petrography. He was lecturer in petrology at the University of Cambridge and carried out field mapping for the Geological Survey of Scotland and geological studies of western Scotland and the Isle of Skye.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally. very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and panel edges with a closed tear to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
