In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The cloth to the spine has slightly faded. Signed by John Masefield on the limitation page. With a letter loosely inserted by a previous owner, retelling their experiences and impression of a bakery in Oxford and their encounter with the Poet Laureate. From the library of Peter Combe, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Previous ownership signature to the front free endpaper, 'Audrey Combe,' dated 1942. Internally, firmly bound. The endpapers are slightly faded, otherwise the pages are bright and clean.
