First Edition, Very Scarce

The first edition of this work, two essays bound in one. Lacking the title page of 'This World and the Next,' dated to the foreword. Edward L. Gardener was a noted writer and lecturer in the Theosophical Society in India, from the English Section. Gardner was much known for his writing, and was awarded the Subba Row Medal for his contributions to Theosophical literature. 

This volume contains two of his scarce essays discussing theosophical beliefs, with focus on God and Christianity in relation to spirituality. Bearing the titles of 'A Mystery Scroll and Its Key,' and 'This World and the Next.' 

With the 'Theosophical Society in England' bookplate to the front pastedown.

Condition

In a full cloth library binding with new endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, library shelf number inked to the spine. With the 'Theosophical Society in England' bookplate to the front pastedown. Discreet library stamps to the title page, foreword to the second essay, and the last leaf of text. Internally, firmly bound. Th pages are bright and clean.
