Six volumes from The Army at War series issued for The War Office by the Ministry of Information during the Second World War.
All six volumes are first editions.
Three volumes have been written by Eric Linklater, The Northern Garrisons, The Defence of Calais and
The Highland Division.
Within The Northern Garrisons Linklater details the experiences of the soldiers posted in some of the most barren environments during the War, including Iceland, Shetland and Orkney. This was first published in 1941.
The Defence of Calais outlines the siege and defence of Calais in 1940, going through each day chronologically. This volume has a map of Calais and was first published in 1941.
The Highland Division has four maps and was first published in 1942. This volume was constructed from War diaries of the fifty-first Highland Division.
They Sought Out Rommel is a diary of a Public Relations Officer whose job it was to conduct a party of newspaper correspondents into the battle of the Libyan Campaign, from November 16th to December 31st 1941. This volume was first published in 1942.
Within The Campaign in Greece and Crete, there is explaination of the decision of the British to support the Greeks and is a tribute to the fighting qualities of the Imperial and Greek armies. This volume has six maps and was first publishe din 1942.
We Speak from the Air is a volume containing broadcasts by the RAF during the war and was issued for The Air Ministry by the Ministry of Information, first published in 1942.

Condition
All volumes are in the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. There is some chipping to the extremities of Rommel, The Highland Division and The Campaign in Greece and Crete. There is an inscription to the front wrap of The Northern Garrisons. All wraps are a little faded with We Speak from the Air being in the best condition. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound and have generally bright and clean pages.
