A very scarce edition of 'Queen of Crime' Agatha Christie's collection of short stories, here in the Crime Club uniform edition of 1940.

There were no more UK Crime Club hardcovers of this book issued until 1965.

A collection of twelve short stories, containing 'The Hound of Death', 'The Red Signal', 'The Fourth Man', 'The Gypsy', 'The Lamp', 'Wireless', 'The Witness for the Prosecution', 'The Mystery of the Blue Jar', 'The Strange Case of Sir Arthur Carmichael', 'The Call of Wings', 'The Last Seance', and 'SOS'.

Containing the first appearance of 'Witness for the Prosecution' which later became a successful stage-play. 

Agatha Christie is one of the most prolific and successful detective writers in the English language, writing sixty-six detective novels in total. She is best known for the iconic crime solvers Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Tide marks resulting in fading of the cloth to head of front board and majority of rear board. Spine faded, with bumping to head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
