These two volumes go in depth looking at western costumes from the thirteenth to the mid nineteenth century, looking at the costumes in relation to how they have been used in theatre. Volume I with colour frontispiece, fifteen colour plates, and numerous monochrome illustrations. Volume II with a colour frontispiece, fifteen colour plates, and numerous monochrome illustrations. Written by Iris Brooke, who wrote many other works on historical costume. Bookplate to the front pastedowns, 'John M. Blundall'. Collated, complete.
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dustwrappers. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the front board of 'Seventeenth to Mid-Nineteenth Century'. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Dustwrappers with edgewear, resulting in some loss to the head and tail of the spines, and some loss to the tail of the rear wrap of 'Thirteenth to Seventeenth Centuries'. Light discolouration to the spines of the dustwrappers, and light marks to the wraps. Bookplate to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Blindstamp to the half-titles.
