Prize binding from the University of Cambridge, bound in half-morocco by Bowes & Bowes.

Second Edition, 'Revised and Enlarged'.

Ink inscription on recto of front endpaper to E. G. Turner, possibly the English classicist, for the Winchester Reading Prize, given after the public reading of passages at Cambridge, in 1938. 

Illustrated with a vivid colour folding map of 'World Political Divisions' to the rear.

'The British Empire: A Report on its Structure and Problems' is a compiled work carried out by the Royal Institute of International Affairs, a non-political body founded in 1920 to facilitate the 'scientific study of international questions'. This text was intended as a brief objective survey of the position of the British Empire and its problems in the 1930s, as well as part of documentation for the next meeting of the British Commonwealth Relations Conference. 

Collated, complete. 

Condition

Prize binding for the University of Cambridge, bound in half morocco with cloth boards by Bowes & Bowes. Externally, smart. A bit of wear to the extremities, as well as some rubbing to the spine, particularly the tail, as well as to the joints. Gilt has faded a bit on front boards. A couple of marks to rear board. Some age-toning to margins of pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with a bit of age-toning to margins of text. Pencil inscriptions throughout text from prior owner. Ink inscription on recto of one of the front endpapers. Folding map is very bright and clean.
