What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

A fascinating memoir written by Frank Worsley, who served on Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition during the years 1914 to 1916. During this voyage, the group's ship, 'The Endurance', was shipwrecked, and Worsley, Shackleton, and a few other crewmembers were tasked with sailing a lifeboat 800 miles across the South Atlantic Ocean to alert help. Worsley's navigation skills were crucial to the mission.

Frank Worsley was born in New Zealand, and served in the Royal Navy Reserve during World War I and served in the International Red Cross in World War II.

A very scarce, first edition copy of this work, with the original cover of the dust wrapper tipped in.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with just some light rubbing to the joints and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Very scarce cover of the original dust wrapper has been tipped in. Internally, firmly bound. Pages contain the odd spot, but are generally bright and clean.
