The first Grosset & Dunlap edition, published by arrangement with Charles Scribner's, who published the true first in the same year, with Scribner's 'A' to the limitation page.

'To Have and Have Not' follows a fishing boat captain in Florida, written by Hemingway sporadically between 1936 and 1937, as he travelled back and forth from Spain during the Civil War. 

In 1944 this novel was adapted into a film starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to the joints and extremities. Some light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
