What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated

In the publisher's original cloth binding. 16 plates of monochrome photographs, 3 folding maps, 1 sketch map and one graph. Collated complete. Christina Harris, née Phelps (1902-1972), was an American historian of the Middle East. Her travels in the Middle East during the 1930s led to the publication of The Syrian Desert: Caravans, Travels and Explorations in 1937. This work covers ancient and medieval trade, merchant, private and hajj caravans, postal service, and mechanical transport.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just a little bumping to the upper extremities and to the tail of the spine, and a faint mark to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Small stains to the fore edge. All folding maps are in excellent condition.
