Stefan Kruckenhauser was a ski pioneer, considered the father of wedelling. A man passionate both in skiing and photography, displayed in this beautiful yet very scarce volume. The first English edition of his work, first published in German.
With eighty eight full page plates of photography taken with the Leica camera. With an introduction outlining some photographical tricks and hints to take the best pictures, and pages dedicated to skiing: the ascent, dash, crash, and turn, and more. The theme of the pictures is indicated in the title, being 'ski, men, and mountain.'
Acquired from the sale of Paul Gallico's library, American novelist and short story and spots writer, best remembered for The Snow Goose and The Poseidon Adventure.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over pictorial boards. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, the spine slightly darkened. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with eighty eight full page plates of photography. Collated, complete.
