The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, three further plates, a folding pedigree of the household of Augustus and a folding map of the empire under Augustus. Collated, complete. John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir (1875-1940) was a Scottish novelist and historian. This is his biography of Augustus, the founder of the Roman Empire and the first Roman emperor from 27 BC until his death in AD 14, covering the great events and achievements of his life.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with some fading to the spine and small marks to the front board. Front hinge is slightly strained but held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean.
