Inscribed 'Buy me for the Charing Cross Hospital' by the author, to the front free endpaper.

This novel deploys a number of science fiction motifs, and includes an account of the invasion of the UK by giant crabs. The work connects his earlier mythological fantasies with the Scientific Romances of his later career.

With the bookplate of the Metropolitan Police Libraries to the front pastedown, and a library number in ink to the back strip. No internal library markings.

With a forty page publisher's catalogue to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with bumping to back strip head and tail. Ink to spine. Bookplate to front pastedown, inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
