The first edition of this work. A geographical and educational look at Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile. It is the largest lake in Ethiopia With a folding frontispiece, two folding maps, and twenty-four plates. Written by Robert Ernest Cheesman, an explorer and military officer, and was awarded the Patron's Gold Medal in 1936 for his surveys and explorations of the Blue Nile and Lake Tana. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Christmas 1942, To Daddy, with our fondest love and best wishes, dear Sheila. I do hope you will enjoy this book and bring back 'flighty' memories'. Collated, complete

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Some light fading to the spine and to the rear board. A little bumping to the extremities. A couple of light spots to the spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spotting.
