First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon

The first English edition of this important and well regarded book on Japanese architecture.  A record of a lecture taught by Bruno Taut on October 1935 at the Peers' Club. Beautifully bound in Fusuma-paper, specifically Torinoko with a painted pattern by Urushi (Japanese lacquer.) This type of paper is peculiar of Echizen. The paper used for the text is called Shigarami-gami. It is made exclusively for paper mulberry, which is bleached by the snow in winter and handcrafted, a very limited output nowadays. 

With twenty five illustrations.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Complete with twenty five illustrations.
