What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
Written by 'Elizabeth', or Elizabeth von Armin, Countess Russell, a novelist who ran in glittering social circles. Her first husband was a German aristocrat and her second was Frank Russell, a politician and the brother of Nobel Prize-winner Bertrand Russell. She also had a lengthy affair with H. G. Wells and Alexander Stuart Frere, and her children were tutored by the likes of E. M. Forster and Hugh Walpole. She was a cousin of Katherine Mansfield.
Although Countess Russell never penned an autobiography, this work is autobiographical and offers an insight into the people she surrounded herself with, as well as demonstrated her ardent love of dogs.
The work is introduced, 'Though parents, husbands, children, lovers and friends are all very well, they are not dogs.'
With illustrations throughout depicting the author with her various dogs.
